The basic motorcycle practice course (12h) is mandatory for anyone wishing to obtain a driving licence class A or a subclass A1.

However, this course is not for beginners. You must have some practice before joining the 12h course. If you need beginners classes, do not hesitate to contact us.
ATTENTION: This course is not an initiation course, you must master your vehicle before taking this reinforcement course.
You must also bring your vehicle in good condition, approved and with a full tank of gas. Your vehicle must also correspond to the category indicated on your student permit.
Finally, it is imperative that you bring your vehicle’s registration papers.
The purpose of this motorcycle permit course is to allow the learner to reinforce the essential basics acquired before the course.
This course should allow you to perfect the technical and theoretical rules to drive your vehicle and move safely.
Motorcycle course 12 hours
The course lasts 12 hours to obtain a class A.
The course must be completed within 4 months after the issuance of provisional licence (Art . OAC 19). (Art. 19 OAC)
Upon issuance of a second learner’s permit, the course attended previously remains valid for 12 months.
The course is divided into three parts of 4h. The three parts have to be done in three days. The 3 modules must be taken in order over 3 days.
You will get a full A licence only after holding a limited A licence to 35 kw for at least 2 years.
To register, you must take part 1 (4h) and part 2 (4h) and part 3 (4h)
THE PRACTICAL EXAM
The practical exam for the motorcycle license in Geneva takes 50 minutes and is conducted in the following manner:
A section on maneuvering elements
A section on traffic.
Please note that the Office cantonal des véhicules de Genève does not provide a vehicle for the practical test. You must bring your own vehicle and protective equipment with your valid driving permit and student permit. It is possible that your test will be refused because your motorcycle equipment does not meet the conditions applied by the OCV of Geneva to take the test. In this case, your test will be billed.
Make sure your protective equipment meets the following requirements:
Helmet (approved according to ECE regulation N°22)
Motorcycle gloves or gloves made of resistant material
Motorcycle jacket or sturdy jacket (like leather or jeans)
Motorcycle pants or long, durable pants (like jeans)
Durable and closed motorcycle boots or shoes.
Concerning the maneuvers, the motorcycle license in Geneva is as follows:
Maneuvers: narrow corridor, a slalom course, a figure eight and braking at 50km/h.
Traffic: assessment on the ability to adapt to city traffic for scooters and motorcyclists.
